Podcast 20. Considering Christianity as a Scientist, Considering Praise and Worship, Glory and Holy

We consider and discuss in this podcast the concepts of praise and worship but through the process of understanding the words and concepts of “Glory” and “Holy”. We believe that it helps to understand the reasons for and approaches to worship and praise if you understand the characteristics of God as having Glory and being Holy. Knowing the mental ideals expressed by these words can help us as scientific thinkers approach God and Christianity.

Being a scientific thinker and considering the Christian concept and construct of prayer, how to pray, what to pray, is discussed. Developing a prayer approach, accepting prayer as a way to talk with God is considered. 

Podcast 18. Considering Christianity as a Scientist, Considering James

In Podcast 18 we discuss the history of the Book of James in the New Testament, the author’s story, and the teaching he relays to the distributed Jewish Christian believers. This may be the earliest written letter to Christians and the oldest book of the New Testament. It provides an insight into early Christianity and relays the teachings of Jesus.

Podcast 17 continues our Considering Christianity as a Scientist series by addressing listener questions about repentance, baptism and sacrifice. We discuss the meaning and methods of the words and the concepts towards a broader understanding of these values of Christianity. 

Podcast 16, Considering Christianity as a Scientist, Revisiting the Creator God

Podcast 16 begins a series of responses to specific questions starting with the Creator God. This podcast is a follow up to Podcast 1 and discusses our God beyond what we understand as our physics based universe. 

Podcast 15, Considering Christianity as a Scientist, Considering ACTS and the Writings of Luke

Luke was a trained and educated man. He was a physician, a trained thinker and observer, and a qualified eyewitness to the foundations and beginnings of Christianity. He wrote what he saw and verified. He was a follower of the Christ. As scientific thinkers we have much in common with Luke and can have a high confidence in what he observed and recorded. Luke wrote both the gospel that bears his name and the ACTS, companion texts, sort of a part 1 and part 2. Luke helps us believe because he believed. 

Podcast 14. Considering Christianity as a Scientist, Considering the Resurrection of Jesus

Many scientific thinkers have a problem with the concept of the resurrection, living again after dying. This podcast discusses some key thoughts, assumptions and known data about the resurrection that helps a scientific thinker believe. 

Podcast 13, Considering Christianity as a Scientist, Considering the Teaching of Jesus, During Trial and Crucifixion

This podcast discusses the teaching of Jesus during his trial and crucifixion and discusses the relationship of His disciple’s understanding to what He was saying. His discussions with the Jewish and Roman authorities also utilized teaching moments. Jesus actually mentions His teaching plan and style. For me, this helps me understand Jesus and His thoughts and actions and plans. 

Podcast 12, Considering Christianity as a Scientist, Considering the Teaching of Jesus, Direct continued.

This podcast continues the discussion of the impacts of Jesus’ teaching with individuals, responses to questions, and how Jesus responded so that all may learn. We consider a few of Jesus’ teaching from his Transfiguration, where the last podcast ended, to just before He enters Jerusalem prior to His trial and crucifixion. As mentioned earlier, the closer Jesus came to His final time, his teaching expanded and became more direct especially to the religious leaders and teachers of the day. In the last few podcast we only sampled His teaching and I encourage all to read and study the chapters in Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and the early parts os Acts that further record His words. 

Podcast 11. Considering Christianity as a Scientist, Considering the Teaching of Jesus, Direct Teaching

We continue with a discussion of the teaching of Jesus directly to individuals or small groups, and the impacts it had on the local crowds and His followers. As critical thinkers we will appreciate the impact his teaching had on those who listened as well as the impacts of His actions.
